It's Back to School season! Assistant Principal Cole recently released the list of necessary school supplies by grade for the 2024-2025 school year. You can access the list here or on the home page of the Shepherd Elementary website.

Shepherd Elementary School Star Achievers (SESSA) is Shepherd's privately-run, non-profit (501c3) before- and after-care program. When school is in session, Star Achievers provides daily programming on the school property.

Registration is open for before and after-care sessions. For more information on the programming, please visit the SESSA website. 

Please join the community and SES Staff for Shepherd Beautification Days. This is an opportunity for families in the school community to come together to celebrate and improve the Shepherd campus. 

• Saturday, August 10, 9 AM - 12 PM: exterior focus
• Saturday, August 17, 9 AM - 12 PM: interior focus

If you specialize in gardening, we would welcome your involvement! Please bring any tools you think might help. If you plan to purchase any specialized supplies, the PTO can reimburse you. Please reach out to info@shepherd-elementary.org for more information.

Shepherd Elementary will be hosting an Open House on Friday, August 23. All families are welcome! Open House sessions are applicable for all grades. During this time, families can view the spaces in which their student will occupy daily. This is only a walk through. If you would like to speak with the teacher, please reach out directly to schedule an appointment.

• Session 1:  3:30PM - 4:00PM
• Session 2:  4:30PM - 5:00PM

This month, the Shepherd PTO will be hosting a Back-to-School Playdate for new and returning students to meet and/or get reacquainted on Saturday, August 24, from 3PM - 5PM. We'll meet at the Shepherd Park playground on Jonquil St and provide refreshing snacks. Additionally, this is a great opportunity for a uniform exchange. Hope to see you there!

The PTO is looking for parents to serve as Ambassadors for new Shepherd Elementary families. As an Ambassador, you will be assigned a new incoming Shepherd family or families. We'll ask that you reach out to them at the beginning of the school year to welcome them and answer any questions. The time commitment should be less than 1-2 hours.

The school year is quickly approaching, and the Shepherd PTO is looking for Committee Chairs to support its annual engagement, advocacy, and fundraising activities!  

These Committee Chairs are critical to the execution and planning of many of our PTO efforts. We are grateful that a handful of Committee Chairs plan to return, but our goal is to secure co-chairs for all committees next year, so we are always looking for more volunteers. More information on the Committees can be found on our website.

The PTO Executive Board is looking for two volunteers to lead this year's Fall Fest on Sunday, October 20, 2024. 

Fall Fest is an important fundraiser for the school and a fun day where the community comes together to enjoy family-friendly activities in support of Shepherd. The time commitment is short-term, and we have received support from previous Fall Fest planning efforts to assist our new volunteers.
