Receipts for PTO Reimbursement

As we begin 2024, the PTO wants to ensure our accounting records are accurate and all reimbursement requests are recorded. If you have any receipts that require PTO Reimbursement, such as Room Parent Network or Committee reimbursement, please complete the Google form no later than January 24th. This will ensure we can make recommendations for any necessary budget reallocations in the 2nd half of the year. Thank you!

Health & Wellness Fair/Summer Camp Expo

Get ready for a fun family day at Shepherd's Health & Wellness Fair and Summer Camp Expo on Saturday, February 3rd from 1pm - 4pm. The event will take place in Shepherd's Multipurpose Room (enter through the blue doors on Jonquil St. side) and will feature many great summer camp options, health consultations, and fun activities for the whole family. Spread the word and hope to see you there!

Volunteers needed! Email sescampexpo@shepherd-elementary.org to volunteer to help with concessions/gear sales.

Website Administration

A big shout-out to Sarah Gilberg who has kindly volunteered her services to serve as our new web admin and work to transition the hosting of our school’s web domain and ongoing maintenance work! Sarah will arrange website hosting services, domain registration, manage Wordpress Engine, Cornerstone, and Google Workspace licensing, and other maintenance activities. Thank you, Sarah!

In addition to Website Administrator, we are also looking for a Website Content Manager who will be able to keep pace with the necessary content updates to the website. The time commitment is only 1-2 hours per month. The platform is very user-friendly so no experience necessary! If you think you might be able to support this effort, please email info@shepherd-elementary.org

Upcoming Events

January Strong Start Assembly

1st Grade Families are invited to attend the Strong Start Assembly tomorrow, January 25th from 8:50 - 9:15 am where 1st Grade will host Celebrate Africa week.

4th and 5th Grade Bingo & Bites Night

4th and 5th grade families are invited to the first 2024 monthly Bingo & Bites Night hosted by the Shepherd PTO and Staff Family Engagement Committees. Bingo will take place in the Multi-purpose room on Thursday, February 8th from 5:30 - 7:00 pm.

This is a family event so all students must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. While the game will be targeted for 4th-5th graders, siblings are welcome to attend. Some light snacks will be provided. If you feel inclined to bring dinner, please remember, Shepherd is a nut-free facility. More information to come!

February LSAT and PTO Meetings

Giving Back Opportunities

Online Gear Store

Our Shepherd Elementary gear storefront is now available for orders under "Giving Back to Shepherd" on the Shepherd website. After you've completed your purchase, gear will be delivered directly to your child's classroom within 7 business days. The PTO will still host in-person events throughout the year, but the gear store will provide a convenient alternative to those sales.

Please note, if you select gear and it cannot be added to the bag, it is likely sold out.

Teacher Appreciation Program (TAP)

The Teacher Appreciation Program, or TAP, gives parents an opportunity to recognize a teacher at Shepherd for their great work and dedication. TAP invites parents to write a letter of appreciation recognizing a teacher who has been especially helpful or admirable in the classroom.

Once a month, a special teacher will be selected from the nominations to receive a Wishlist fund bonus. The recognition letters will also be shared with the selected teacher and school community.

Shepherd 180 Fund Appeal And Bonus Incentive!

Help the Shepherd PTO fund lots of great events, initiatives, and extra curricular efforts at Shepherd this year by donating to the 180 Fund.

It's called the 180 Fund because there are 180 instructional days in the school year and your donation of a dollar a day per student helps the PTO support sending students on offsite field trips, funding teacher educational wish lists, putting on school plays and concerts, updating outdoor playground equipment, funding additional academic supports, and hosting school-wide events! This budget really helps us give our students even more unique, meaningful and enriching opportunities each year.
